Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuse. This grenade cannot be converted to an explosive device and is not available for export.

This is a nice blue practice example of the iconic U.S. fragmentation pineapple grenade issued during WWII. The Mk II was standardized in 1920 replacing the Mk I of 1917. It was phased out gradually, the U.S. Navy being the last users, and on 2 April 1945 the Mk II and Mk IIA1 were re-designated the Mk 2 and Mk 2A1. This is an M-21, which essentially is a MKII version made solely for training/practice purposes in the later years of WWII and used into the 1960s.

This iconic practice grenade is paired with a rather rare M1 “Booby Trap” Pull Release Firing Device. The release firing device M1 is a mechanical device designed for firing explosive charges by means of the removal of a restraining load from the device. A restraining load of at least two pounds is required. When the load is removed, a spring lever strikes a firing pin. which detonates a percussion cap. The Pull firing device M1 is a standard firing device which can be threaded to all of the standard anti-personnel mines, hand grenades, and to the bangalore torpedo.

A wonderful example ready for further research and display.
