Hat made from beaver pelt, much of which is now rather worn.

A Surgeon was a respected ship's officer who worked under the most terrible of medical and sanitary conditions in the old wooden hulled Men-o-War. The work situations were primitive and the wounds, mostly from cannon fire were horrific.

Suitably decorated with gilt roping with dark red accents including gold and red cockade denoting a Medical Surgeon" rank.

Retaining most of its original ivory colored silk lining, although now considerably

split and tattered, this bicorn is extraordinarily rare and while it shows age is still very presentable.
