Original Item: In the mid 1990s IMA won a bid in Finland for WW1 German Triple Ammunition Pouches for use with GEW 98 Rifles that Germany had given to the Finns as Aid for the 1939/40 Winter Wars against the Soviet Union. Included, but packed separately, were these leather "Y" straps for use with the pouches as when filled with ammunition extra support was required. Each strap, constructed of brown leather, attaches at the rear to the waist belt and secures with the use of a collar stud fittings. The front of the set attaches directly to D ring fittings on the rear of the Mauser triple pouches using the same collar stud method, the pouches themselves of course attaching to the standard WW1 waist belt. These "Y" straps, having been packed separately, were somehow overlooked and have only recently come to light in the on-going IMA warehouse re-organization. Showing age, odor, and some wear, these nearly 100 year-old "Y" Straps are ideal for display to complete all those WW1 Mauser Triple Pouches IMA has sold over the past 15 years. Condition varies and slight stitching repair may be required but the sling will be free of major tears or rot. Very limited quantity available.
