Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice World War Two Era 48 Star American Flag, in a nice displayable 33 x 44”. The construction of this example is interesting, being a two-piece construction, the flag just being two separate pieces sewn together in the middle. There is a stamp on the left side of the flag which is almost identical to French stamps on items of the period, leading us to believe this is a WWII French-manufactured U.S. flag. The stars are also oddly oriented, further supporting the foreign-manufacture theory. The flag is printed and the left edge appears raw, with no halyard.
The flag does show some wear, with scattered small tears and pulls, with some larger holes in the center. There are also some areas on the edge that show fraying / wear, most likely from rubbing on a sharp edge. The flag has the usual age toning, so the white is now somewhat beige. Very nice example, almost certainly French-made, ready to be properly displayed!
