Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent condition original German WWII Mid-Late War Style National Socialist Party Overcoat Armelbinde Armband, brought home by a U.S. soldier after the war. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
This type of armband was worn by party members on the sleeves of their overcoats, and was thinner and longer for that reason. It is in very good condition, with the colors vibrant and showing just a few small holes. These were made in long strips, and cut off as needed, though we do not know if the edge hems were usually applied before or after cutting. It measures approximately 18" x 2", with the ends still loose. It is made from cotton with the insignia printed onto the outside. We do not see any evidence that it was ever installed.
A very nice NSDAP overcoat armband, ready to add to your collection!
