Original Imperial German WWI Bavarian Officer’s Motto Etched Sword by Carl Kaiser & Co with Scabbard & Leather Strap

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Just acquired at a recent military show! This is a very nice example of a rare Royal Bavarian Officer's Sword from the Pre-WWI era of the German Empire. Of all the states of the Empire, Bavaria was the one Kingdom that enjoyed the most independence, and often had their own regulations and specific patterns of issue items. This is one such sword, made by the legendary Solingen-based firm of Carl Kaiser & Co.

The slightly curved nickel plated blade has a single fuller on both sides and there is an etched panel on both sides with the badge of Bavaria over IN TREUE FEST. The ricasso has the maker's mark of a crown over crossed swords with C K & Co between the blades on the right side. This is the maker’s mark for Carl Kaiser & Co. of Solingen.

The hilt is also nickel-plated with a wrapped-wooden grip. The grip is in rough shape with much of the wrap gone. The plating is in great shape overall. There is a period leather strap hanging from the sword knot slit, so this may be part of an early sword knot or something else. The sword retains its original leather washer and the small red felt washer on top of that!

The scabbard is also plated and is in great shape with its hanger ring still retained. Some minor oxidation to the plating and some dents across the scabbard. A great example and addition to the sword.

This is a great WWI Bavarian officer’s sword, ready for further research and display.
