Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice service-worn WWII M3 U.S. fighting knife, made by the rare extremely hard to find maker, Aerial Cutlery Corp of Marinette, Wisconsin. With the marking on the crossguard, this is the 3rd pattern. It comes in a custom leather scabbard.
These fighting knives were preferred by American infantry during World War Two for hand to hand combat. This knife is mid-war production, and is marked on the crossguard U.S. / M3 / A.C.C. The 6 1/2 inch spear point blade is in good used condition, without much of the original finish present.
The handle and stacked leather grip are in fair condition, with some rounding and heavy wear. The crossguard is still in the correct shape, straight with a forward bend at the top for the thumb. The bottom of the pommel shows the U.S. "Flaming Bomb" ordnance proof mark and correct flat tang. The crossguard and pommel both have some moderate oxidation.
The custom leather scabbard is unmarked and in fair condition, but the securing strap is heavily cracked & crazed. A nice set, ready for further research and display.
