Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous original painting signed to an A. A. Hoffman, painted in 1946. The painting depicts what we believe to be a Marine Corps poncho or some other camouflage material laid out, with an M1 Helmet laid on top. Sitting under the rim of the helmet is a box for a Bronze Star, with a Bronze Star Medal & Army Good Conduct Medal sitting beside it. There are ribbons for the U.S. WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 stars.
We conducted a preliminary search on Hoffman but could not find any clear matches. This is a piece requiring a lot more research and a proper frame. It’s a truly gorgeous shot, and there is a small 3 stamp in the bottom left corner. There is barely any damage to the painting despite it not being in a frame. One of the nicer WWII paintings we have offered! Comes ready for further research and display.
