Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. A fantastic 101st Airborne Division uniform jacket in very good well cared for condition. The size is roughly a 36 and features a lovely “Screaming Eagle” Old Abe patch with Airborne rocker on the left shoulder and a set of Paratrooper’s wings over an Airborne Command oval above the left breast.
Old Abe, a bald eagle, was the mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War. Later, his image was adopted as the eagle appearing on a globe in Case Corporation's logo and as the screaming eagle on the insignia of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.
The uniform features a 101st Airborne patch on the left sleeve and a 1st Allied Airborne patch on the right sleeve. There are two overseas stripes on the left cuff, and US and Infantry collar insignia on the collar. There is a 3-place ribbon bar on the left breast, with the Army Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, and European-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Above this is an Airborne Command oval with a set of Sterling Paratrooper pin-back wings on top of them. The right breast has a Ruptured Duck Honorable Discharge patch. The jacket is in fair shape overall with some scattering moth holes.
The trousers are in great condition without any identifying markings. A great set, ready for further research and display.
