Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice Reversible U.S. Three & Four Star General's Military vehicle identification fender plate, from the Vietnam war era. The plate is made of stainless steel, and one side has a blue field with 4 cut-out stars, with 3 cut-out stars on the reverse. It measures the standard 9" x 6" that the U.S. army uses for their vehicle rank plates. Condition is very good overall.
Plates such as this were for use on military vehicles, usually a Jeep or other small vehicle, to indicate that it was carrying a "flag officer", which was an army officer of high enough rank to fly a flag from the location of their command. In this case, the plate represents the "flag" while the officer was in the vehicle, which would have a holder attached to the fender. When the officer left the vehicle, the plate would then be removed and place in its carrier.
This example still retains the original carrier, which is blue in color, with a white interior. The carrier does have some nicks at the bottom from storage. Otherwise it is in very good condition, with a velcro securing strap.
