Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely, service used example of a rare wartime WWI M-1915 French "Adrian" Helmet, 100% original and retaining its original chinstrap, although the liner is gone. The front of the helmet still retains its original French Zouave badge, which features the standard R F (for Republique Francaise), over a Cresent Moon (as Zouaves and Tirailleurs were from North Africa). This helmet exhibits original “Mustard” (moutarde) applied paint, as was standard for Zouave and Colonial Troops during WWI. Normally this was done over the original Horizon Blue paint, but this example appears to have started life as a Zouave helmet.
The chinstrap is complete and present though it is in a very fragile state. It is currently fastened over the front brim, as often seen. This would make for an ideal representative example in a collection without the need of a liner as it cannot be seen.
These helmets have always been amongst some of the most difficult WWI French Adrian Helmets to acquire! Ready for display!
