Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a hard to find sword, an Italian Naval Officer’s sword from the WWII Era. The sword features a straight 29¾ inch blade with etched panels on each side displaying Italian military arms and a set of what appear to be pilot’s wings clutched a fasces.
The sword features a solid basket guard of brass displaying a crowned anchor emblem. The reverse side of the guard originally folded down to lock the sword to the scabbard, however the guard piece and the small brass post on the scabbard throat is missing.
The white-painted wooden grip is bound with three strands of copper wire. The Lion head pommel with its mane as a back strap is particularly beautiful. The sword comes in its leather bound hard scabbard with brass fittings and rope hanger.
The sword is offered in good service-used condition, but is very worn overall. The blade is heavily worn especially near the tip.
A good example, ready for further research and display.
