Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great 1930s era Army Air Corps uniform identified to Lieutenant Colonel (then Lieutenant) Rudolph H. Ziehm. The uniform has a gorgeous set of Sterling pilot’s wings as well as distinguished unit insignia for the 3rd Air Base Squadron on both shoulder boards.
The uniform jacket has the Army Air Corps “pinwheel” patch, which was used from 20 July 1937 - 19 March 1942. It bears 2nd Lieutenants bars and DI insignia on the shoulder boards, U.S. & Air Corps collar insignia, and a great set of Sterling pilot’s wings above the left breast pocket. The jacket is in great shape, as are the breeches.
The group comes with a letter from the Department of the Army listing the awards received by Ziehm, including several WWII campaign medals, a Human Action medal, the Occupation of Japan medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve medal with 2 devices.
This is a great uniform grouping which requires further research! Comes ready for further research and display.
