The 32” etched blade is in fair condition with evidence of past oxidation being cleaned away. The ricasso is marked on one side with:

The company Bernstorff & Eichwede was a sculpture foundry in Hanover , whose history dates back to the 18th century and whose products can still be found today, for example as monuments in Hanover and Berlin. After the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia in 1866, the company was listed in the Hanover city directory of 1867 as "Supplier to His Majesty's Court, Metal Goods and Military Effects Factory , Sculpture Foundry". The blade is very well-etched with patriotic motifs with cannons, flags, and a cuirassier’s armor & helmet. There is heavy wear to the sharkskin grip, and the wire is becoming loose. The hilt is still tight to the blade with a very small remnant of the blade buffer still barely holding on. There is heavy wear & scuffing to the brass. The overall length is 36⅞”.
The original brass-mounted leather scabbard is in rough partial condition. The drag is present but is disconnected from the leather, but sits for display. Always remove it by the drag. 10” from the end of the drag is an active break that’s holding on by a small half. The scabbard is only 26½” long when it was likely 33” originally.
A nice example, ready for further research and display.
Approximate Dimensions:
