Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous 1890s Era Navy “Flat Hat” worn by enlisted sailors in the U.S. Navy. This example is perfect for issue during the Spanish-American War, and still retains the cap tally reading U.S. NAVY.
The interior bears a logo for “Ralph’s” located at 133 Sands St., Brooklyn, New York, although it is rather faint. This is very rare, the first flat hat we have ever seen with a maker’s mark. The hat retains the original tie-string that tightens the cap around the head, with the proper red pom-pom end.
The cap has some small areas of mothing but nothing too serious. A very scarce example of a Spanish-American War Navy flat hat, ready for further research and display!
