Regular price $1,695.00

Item Description

Original Items. Only One Group Available. This is a fantastic Vietnam War grouping including a plaque named to the officer in charge of River Section 512 during 1967, and a great collection of ten engraved Vietnam War Zippo lighters. The lighters are all period manufacture, but many of the lighters have post-war engravings done to mimic the popular styles chosen by Vietnam veterans, due to the complexity of dating engravings we are selling the lot “as-is” so please just assume that all engravings were done after the war, though some might be genuine wartime engraved.

The grouping includes:

- Plaque measuring 7⅞ x 9⅛” with the insignia of the Patrol River Boat River Section 512, given to Lieutenant Edward L. Schneider, U.S. Navy, Officer in Charge, River Section 512 from March 1967 to September 1967. There is no hanger on the back, so one will need to be added.

- 1968 Dated Zippo lighter with the seal of the Secretary of Defense reading M.A.C.V. COMMAND 1967-1968 SAIGON VIETNAM / GENERAL WESTMORELAND STAFF OFFICERS with a name engraved in cursive. No longer sparks.

- 1967 Dated Zippo lighter with 15th Coastal Division insignia engraved on one side, with a patrol boat over SWIFT on the other side. Still sparks.

- 1971 Dated Zippo lighter with US Naval Forces in Vietnam DUI attached to back, other side reading PRESENTED BY VADM E.R. ZUMWALT JR. COMMANDER U.S. NAVAL FORCES VIETNAM. Still sparks.

- Undated Zippo Lighter with River Division 531 “Delta Dragons” insignia engraved on one side, other side with engraving of river boat with same designation. Still sparks.

- 1969 Dated Zippo Lighter with engraving of River Section 543 insignia on one side, other side has engraving of river boat with same designation. Does not spark, wheel appears to be off-kilter.

- Morlite Lighter with 10th Air Force Insignia under VIETNAM 71-72 PHAN RANG on one side, other side reads KNIGHTS SLEW FOR LOVE WE SLAY FOR MONEY. Still sparks.

- Zenith Lighter with 1st Signal Brigade insignia under SAIGON VIETNAM 70-71, other side reads DEATH IS MY BUSINESS AND BUSINESS HAS BEEN GOOD. Good unique design, still sparks well!

- Japanese-made Coronet Rocky lighter with Peace & Love engraving under SAIGON VIETNAM 64-65 on one side. The other side reads PLEASE! DON’T TELL ME ABOUT VIETNAM BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN THERE under an engraving of a man & woman making love with the caption THING TO DO TODAY! Still sparks barely.

- Noble Lighter with 90th Tactical Fighter Squadron “Pair-O-Dice” insignia over VIETNAM 64-65 QUI NHON on one side, the other side reading ALWAYS RIPPED OR ALWAYS STONED I MADE IT A YEAR I’M GOING HOME. Sparks very faintly.

- Unmarked lighter with BOB HOPE SPECIAL VIETNAM 67-68 AN KHE U.S.O. “REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM” on one side, with a depiction of a naked woman on the other side over PEACE IS TODAY AND TOMORROW IS YESTERDAY. We are unsure of the authenticity of this piece’s engraving, and it may have been done later.

This is a nice collection of lighters with a great plaque, perfect for any Vietnam War collection. As mentioned, we are unsure which lighters have genuine engravings and which have fake engravings, so the lot is being sold as-is. Comes ready for further research and display!
