Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a classic Fore and Aft hat worn by both the British Army and royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars and through the Victorian era. The exact date of this hat is unknown, we believe that it dates from the earlier part of the 19th century between 1830 to 1860. It features a shaved sealskin fur body, silver brocade trim, and a queens crown button on the right side. The white silk lining is intact as well as the sweatband. Size is approximately a US 7 1/4 (58cm). The body of the hat is not crushed or broken, the fur is in good condition, but the hat does show signs of age with minor cracking at one side.
Also included is a custom hat tin with carry handle and lock. These tins were used through the Victorian era and into the WWI.
