Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a fantastic research project for someone - a German belt which has been captured by a British Soldier and carved with a travel journal, with the buckle being modified with a Union Jack and the soldier’s service number, 898798.

The buckle is a German pebbled Army buckle with the motto, eagle, and swas worn away, with the soldier’s number replacing the motto, and a Union Jack replacing the eagle and swas. The buckle is maker-marked C.T.D. for the firm of Christian Theodor Dicke of Lüdenscheid.

The belt is carved with the following battles of the Italian Campaign:

ANZIO
ROME
FLORENCE
MONTE GRANDE

The belt itself is maker-marked E. KRUMM A.G. OFFENBACH 1940. The end piece is marked L&F. It measures roughly 40” in length and is marked Size 60.

This is a fantastic captured belt and buckle with a ton of character! It comes ready for further research and display!

On January 24TH 1936 a new pattern Enlisted Men and Non-Commissioned Officer's belt buckle was officially introduced to replace the previously worn Weimar era Reichsheer buckle. The basic design of the Reichsheer buckle was retained with the addition of the new Wehrmacht style national eagle. This pattern buckle was worn through-out the Third Reich period with minor manufacturing variations.
