Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. When the CPV first crossed the Yalu they wore quilted and padded winter uniforms. These were worn until the first spring then were discarded. During the second winter they wore only padded uniforms. As a result of having been worn only one winter and very few padded quilted uniforms having been brought home from the first Korean War Winter, these uniforms are very scarce.
This is a fantastic example of a Chinese-manufactured padded jacket & winter hat used by Chinese and Korean troops during the Korean War. The jacket has five large buttons on the front which are closed using small loops on the other end, instead of a normal hole system. There is some small Asian writing on the bottom of the front of the coat, and there is a still-visible Chinese depot stamp on the interior. The number 385234 is stamped on the interior at the bottom, along with some Chinese/Korean characters. This jacket is a great research project as there is likely a name written here.
The included winter hat is in great shape with the fur on the front and sides still well-retained, with some small areas of loss. The interior is a padded blue material and is still in good shape. The buttons appear to be retained as well. The hat is roughly size 7.
This is a really scarce uniform set, one of the scarcest Korean War sets we have offered. ChiCom items from this period are always scarce, so don’t miss out.
