Regular price $895.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This a very nice service-used example of the German WWI Zielfernrohr (Remote Target Scope) 12 (Z.F.12), a 2.5X power, optical gun sight for the MG08, 7.92mm, Maxim machine gun, as used by Imperial Germany and her allies during the First World War and beyond. This example was stored in an Ersatz Binoculars case, which we have left included. It is marked on the side with the number designation, serial number, and maker information:

Z. F. 12.
No. 1373

Emil Busch A.-G.
Rathenow

The sight is also unit-marked on the adjustment wheel:

J.R. 95. M.G. 3.
K
1143
6.

This identifies the sight to having been used by the Machine Gun Company of the 95th Infantry Regiment or Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 95, attached to the 76th Infantry Brigade, XI Corps (Hesse-Nassau and Thuringia), which saw heavy fighting on both the Eastern and Western fronts during World War I.

The optics look great and appear to be fully functional, with just some cracking to the glass in the top left when viewing the optic. It is however missing the leather eyepiece, but the dial on the left side is present. The sight does still retain the lens cover for the objective lens. The included binoculars case is in worn condition with the lid having torn away from the leather, but still works well to display the sight with.

A great example unit-marked to a very combat-torn unit. Ready to fit to your MG 08!
