Item Description

Original Group. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendously scarce grouping including ephemera to the Tellmann brothers, Fritz, who served in the Luftwaffe, and Karl, who served in the Heer (Army). Both brothers were Killed in Action in Russia during World War II.

The grouping includes:

- The Iron Cross 2nd Class and ribbon awarded to Karl Tellmann, along with his award certificate citing him as being in Stab III/I.R. 54, awarded on March 6th, 1942.
- Wound badge certificate for Karl Tellmann, denoting its awarding in Silver.
- HJ ID Card, Sports book, and photographs of Karl Tellmann during his time in the HJ, one photo of him holding a rifle.
- Photo of Karl Tellmann in his Heer uniform.
- Letter sent in 1942, indiscernible.
- 2 Death letters sent home for the death of Karl Tellmann, Radio operator in a mountain infantry regiment, holder of the EK2 and silver wound badge. He died in a field hospital on April 20th, 1942.
- 1 Death letter sent home for the death of Fritz Tellmann, Corporal in a Luftwaffe field regiment, holder of the Eastern Medal. Died in the heavy fighting at Lake Ilmen on January 8th, 1943, 9 months after his brother.
- Letter sent to Tellmann’s mother after she requested more information about her son’s death. This letter goes into excruciating detail about Karl’s death, explaining how his upper left arm was shattered by green nata splinters, and had to be amputated in the hospital. It’s explained that after recovering, he caught pneumonia which exacerbated his wounds and killed him. A very scarce letter to have. This was likely written by his commanding officer.
- Letter sent to Tellmann’s family apologizing for the death of their second son Fritz in February 1943. Very standard sorry for your loss letter.

This is an unbelievable grouping to two brothers who were killed in action in Russia during World War II. This group could definitely use some further research. Comes ready for display!
