This is a very good condition WWII German NSDAP Political National Wimpel (Pennant) Flag, which measures a long but still displayable 92 inches in fly by 24 inches in hoist. These were used inside buildings, or possibly on podiums during speeches. It is of all cotton construction, and is double sided with single piece cotton white circles with a printed black swas (hook cross) sewn onto both sides. There is a hemmed header sleeve on the hoist end, and these could be attached to ropes, or attached to small poles.

Condition is very good, with overall age toning and light staining, showing that it was probably on display for a good amount of time. The red field is still quite vibrant, and this would definitely make an eye catching display piece.

The NSDAP, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (National Socialist German Worker’s Party), was originally founded in Munich as the DAP, Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (German Worker’s Party), on January 5TH 1919. When Adolf AH joined the DAP in the autumn of 1919 he was to reform what was basically a debating society into an active political party. Appointed as the first chairman of the party on July 29TH 1921 AH was to restructure it along para-military lines in a hierarchy of four levels of government.
