Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show, is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Podium banner, complete with the hanger rod and tassel rope for hanging it. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
The banner is double sided and of multi-piece construction, with a black swas (hook cross) printed on a white canvas circle (one piece) stitched onto both sides of the red cotton background. There is no border around the edge, but there is a nice 2" long white rayon fringe on the bottom. It measures 43" x 29", and has a hemmed hanger sleeve at the top. Inside of this is a 36" long rod with brass spike finials, and wrapped around the ends is a lovely yellow rayon rope with tassels on the ends, used to hang the banner from the podium.
The banner is offered in very good service used condition, looking to have seen moderate use during the NSDAP period. There are some small holes and tears, as well as light staining. The colors are however still very vibrant, and the stitching is all secure, as far as we can tell.
A very nice lightly used example, ready to add to your collection!
