Original Item. Only One Available. This is a tremendously rare large size propaganda poster from the German-Occupied Netherlands dating around November 1943. The poster features a little girl crying with her clothing torn and her fingers in her mouth as she runs from a burning city. To the left are wounded civilians hunched over or dead.

The poster measures 32" x 43” and is in great shape, with only some folds from being stored for so long, almost no tears across the poster. The bottom reads HET 2de FRONT, meaning The Second Front, which was meant to urge civilians of the Netherlands to join or support the fight against the allies to avoid this happening to their children. It was put together by the German Reichs Commissioner to instill fear in the people of the Occupied Netherlands. There is one little divot at the top middle as shown. Otherwise a great example.

The second front for the Germans was the Eastern Front: the scene of war in Central and Eastern Europe, from June 22, 1941 to May 9, 1945. The Eastern Front is infamous for the many lives it claimed and the inhumane way of waging war. Events that took place on the Eastern Front included Operation Barbarossa and the Continuation War. It is considered the decisive battleground of the entire Second World War. The battle on the Eastern Front began when Adolf H violated the non-aggression pact with Stalin on June 22, 1941 and invaded the Soviet Union, together with the Finnish, Romanian, Hungarian and Slovak armies. This offensive was codenamed "Operation Barbarossa". The aim of the Germans was to occupy all areas west of the Volga before the invasion of the Mud Period in mid-October. Operation Barbarossa was a great success for the Germans in the first weeks. The decision of the Soviet military leadership to imitate the new German tactics turned out to be a disastrous mistake. During the Great Purge in the previous years, an important part of the officer corps had been exterminated; As a result, leadership qualities had declined and people had forgotten how to take the initiative themselves, while fast, flexible command against the Germans was an absolute necessity.
