Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a really great piece of Prisoner-of-War artwork, a large Luftwaffe Eagle statue made from what appears to be plated brass. The eagle clutches the Swas which is mounted onto the top of an Artillery shell, with the threads still visible. This is mounted onto a thin metal base, with the entire piece measuring roughly 11½” tall with a 15½” wingspan and a 5½” base diameter.
We have no information on where this came from, only that it was made as POW art. The piece is in fair shape overall with some denting to one of the wings, but nothing serious.
The underside of the base has a marking, MEFCOLITE, likely just the American maker of the base, which could’ve been used for anything, so this was certainly made by a German POW imprisoned in the United States.
This is a really great & unique piece of Luftwaffe POW art, ready for further research and display.
