Original Hungarian / Polish 17th Century Magnate’s Sword with Eastern Pattern Welded Damascus Blade

Regular price $2,495.00

Item Description

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. Magnate is a high rank of nobility in Hungary, hence Magnate sword is the title given to high quality richly decorated swords, supposedly carried by members of the house of Magnate in Hungary.

This is a gorgeous 17th Century Magnate’s sword, almost certainly of Hungarian or Polish origin, with a carved ivory grip bolstered at the hilt by silver wrap, with a gorgeous 26½” heavily-curved Eastern Pattern Welded Damascus blade, which has retained its gorgeous pattern very well. There is a small bit of the leather blade washer still retained on the crossguard. The ivory grip is studded with silver and has a lovely pattern.

This is the first example of a Magnate’s sword we have offered, and this one is truly magnificent. The blade has some areas of pitting but has truly stood the test of time and displays beautifully. Comes ready for further research and display.

Dimensions:
Blade Length: 26½”
