Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is an interesting piece of Japanese-made Trench art which depicts an American boat on open waters, with a name on the ship that is too worn to read. The trench art appears to be made from a piece of Brass, likely made from an American ship which was destroyed or captured by the Japanese, on a bakelite base, a very interesting material to use on this.
The back of the piece of brass has a notched channel which leads us to believe this was taken from an American ship. The bakelite base measures 3 x 6 x ½” and the entire piece is 2” tall. The ship appears to be depicted after having been attacked as there are many repeated punches of the same tool around the payload of the boat, possibly meant to depict as smoke. A great piece of trench art which could use further research.
Comes ready for further research and display.
