Original Item. Only One Available. This is a tremendous Japanese Parade Dress uniform for a Captain in Army Aviation with a set of Lieutenant Colonel’s rank braid shoulder boards incorrectly placed on.
The wiring on the The uniform is overall in superb condition. There is some relatively light moth tracking on the blue cuffs as shown. The celluloid collar liner remains in the neck of the coat. The interior of the coat carries the label of a Tokyo tailor. The sleeves carry the rank braid of a Lieutenant Colonel, with the royal blue collar and cuffs indicating service in the Japanese Army Aviation branch. The cuff braids have 3 rows which indicate the rank of Captain, meaning the shoulder boards, bearing the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, were likely added to this uniform.
The cap is in phenomenal shape with the braid wrapped around the hat to indicate rank, Captain. There is an original red & white plume protruding from the top of the cap, which is still in fantastic shape. The cap has a beautiful monogram made up of string sewn into the interior, which is difficult to read. The cap has the original chinstrap still connected and is roughly a size 6⅝.
The uniform also includes the original belt with a gorgeous pair of bullion knots with bullion tassels hanging. The bullion is in overall good shape but is coming loose in some spots. The belt is white & blue striped to signify the Japanese Army Aviation branch. The belt is in great shape and displays very well on the uniform.
The trousers also feature long blue stripes on both sides to indicate the Japanese Army Aviation branch. The trousers are in great shape with light moth tracking throughout, but displays very well with the uniform overall. The uniform group is in overall great shape and would do very well with further research.
This is a really spectacular uniform group that would be complete and correct with the Lieutenant Colonel shoulder boards being replaced with that of Captain. It displays very well as is but should be corrected. This is a fantastic group ready for further research and display, don’t miss it!
