Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous set of Soviet M1938 Body armor pieces which were recovered from the site of The Battle of Tannenberg Line, which took place between the German Army Detachment Narwa and the Soviet Leningrad Front. They fought for the strategically important Narva Isthmus from 25 July–10 August 1944.
The set consists of four plates, which are tied together in groups of two. The two breast pieces are held together with some string, while the two lowest sporran plates are held together with wire. The set is heavily oxidized as these almost always are, so a proper display will keep the plates away from other items that could become covered in the rust.
The first two pieces together measure roughly 12" x 20" x 3”, and the second set is roughly 9" x 13" x 2”. As they somewhat fold into each other, it is hard to get an exact measurement.
This is a great set, ready for further research and display.
