Item Description
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous piece of Civil War history which has been beautifully preserved, a homemade patriotic wearable cockade to honor a soldier fighting in the war. With fabric of blue, white, and tan, an 8-pointed star design has been sewn around this small tintype of a soldier wearing a forage cap. The cockade measures 2⅝ x 2⅝” and is truly a work of art.
The soldier is wearing a corps badge on his forage cap and the tintype is a small bit loose inside the cockade but is still very well retained. This is a very fine piece of 150+-year-old craftsmanship that has survived very well. Comes ready for further research and display.
