  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a tremendously scarce powder horn with a screw-tip spout and lovely ornamented wooden base. This horn likely dates to the last quarter of the 18th century and first quarter of the 19th, roughly 1775 to 1825 or so, and uses a classic York County external screw tip with a domed base plug with turned grooves, a raised band, and chip carving.

The horn measures roughly 12” and is in good condition overall. The spout still unscrews without issue, but there is a small crack on the side of the spout that may have been repaired at one point. There is also a large crack on the wooden base, and it’s missing one of the small pieces that hold it in place. The small metal hook in the wooden base and side of the horn are still intact.

This is an extremely scarce horn to find in any condition, identified to York County, Pennsylvania. The surface of the wood and the horn is very good and the color is pleasing. Comes ready for further research and display.
