Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fine example of a Pre-Civil War Officer’s Cap Device featuring a wreath surrounding a “U.S.”. This is a very rare insignia to find and this example is in fantastic shape.
The device is the typical style as used before and during the Civil War, and worn on all versions of headgear worn by Federal Officers. The insignia is embroidered on a dark blue wool with fine bullion embroidery in gold and silver. The workmanship is second to none, and the condition rates as excellent, only showing signs of mellowed patina from being in storage over the last 160+ years.
Measures approximately 2⅛” x 2½ .
This is an excellent piece to add to an Early American collection as is. Ready for display!
