We have seen these caps sell up to $500 a piece (seen at this link  here), making this an absolutely spectacular deal! These are all actual service caps that appear to have been bronzed using an electrochemical process. Bronze plating is done in a tank filled with an electrolyte solution. A rod made of the plating metal is placed in the solution. In this case, the rod would be made of bronze alloy. In addition to the bronze rod, bronze salts are dissolved in the water solution. Once the process is initiated, the bronze adheres to the object placed in the tank.

The Caps In This Grouping:
- Male Senior Officer Peaked Visor: The insignia in the center of the hat is an eagle on top of a shield in front of two crossed anchors. This designates the person wearing the hat as an officer. Like the service hat, the visor on a junior officer's hat is plain black and senior officers have gold oak leaves on the visor called "scrambled eggs."

- Senior Chief Petty Officer Peaked Visor: Much like the officer’s peaked visor, higher enlisted personnel are of the same design but without the “scrambled eggs” and a different insignia. The insignia on this one features a single star above a fouled anchor and “USN” initials is the insignia of grade for the Navy's Senior Chief Petty Officers; the star indicates it is one grade (E-8) above Chief Petty Officer (E-7). The grade was established through Congressional legislation signed into law on 1 June 1958.

- 2nd Class Petty Officer “Dixie Cup” Service Hat: USN Enlisted Service Dress Cover with a 2nd Class Petty Officer insignia. This iconic cap will have you recognized as a Navy sailor world wide. Also known as a GOB hat, Dog Dish, Squid Lid and the popular Dixie Cup. Petty officer second class is the fifth enlisted rank in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard, just above petty officer third class and below petty officer first class, and is a non-commissioned officer. It is equivalent to the rank of sergeant in the Army and Marine Corps, and staff sergeant in the Air Force.
