Item Description

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great Vietnam War shadowbox named to Medic Dennis J. Robinson, 298th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), attached to the 1st Cavalry. Robinson served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart with one OLC and the Bronze Star with a V device for Valor.

The shadowbox measures roughly 12 x 15”, and is 1¼” deep. The contents include:
-Robinson’s name tag and pilot wings.
-Robinson’s 1st Cavalry patch, made incountry during the Vietnam War.
-Robinson’s dog tag with his serial number, RA12772718, his blood type, O, and his religion, Protestant.
-Robinson’s “Pocket Hanger” with a patch for the 44th Medical Brigade, Robinson’s unit. The hanger is plastic with a small leather tab connected to a metal grommet.

The shadowbox also includes a small biography for Robinson, including his Bronze Star Citation:

Cited for valor in combat: When his helicopter set down to evacuate wounded U.S. troops, North Vietnamese Regulars attacked and his pilot and co-pilot were both hit, he took over the aircraft and flew it back to the base, saving the lives of the three crewmembers. Recommended for the Distinguished Flying Cross.

This is a really phenomenal group of patches named to a valorous medic of the Vietnam War, ready for further research and display.
