Original U.S. WWII 220th Infantry Regiment 1st Battalion Company B Swallowtail Guidon Pennant

Regular price $195.00

Item Description

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. In the United States Military, a guidon is a military standard that company/battery/troop or platoon-sized detachments carry to signify their unit designation and branch/corps affiliation or the title of the individual who carries it. A basic guidon can be rectangular, but more often has a triangular portion removed from the fly (known as "swallow-tailed").

This is a great WWII guidon, measuring 21 x 29”, with a Philadelphia Quartermaster tag in the header, for Company B, 1st Battalion, 220th Infantry Regiment. The guidon is made of blue wool, with large white 220 at the top, over the Infantry “Crossed Rifles", with "B" below, for Company A of the Regiment, and “1” on the left, for the 1st Battalion. The guidon is double sided, though the reverse is a mirror image.

These are extremely difficult to find. This example has some tears and staining as shown. We couldn’t find much information on the unit, making this a great research project. A wonderful piece of U.S. WWII memorabilia, ready to display!
