Original U.S. WWII 8th Air Force Captain Officer’s British-Made ETO Jacket with Sterling Wings & Distinguished Flying Cross Ribbon Bar - Dated 1944

Regular price $595.00

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous “European Theater of Operations” or ETO Jacket manufactured in 1944 by Wathen, Gardiner & Co. for a Captain of the 8th Air Force. The jacket has all period-applied insignia, and is in great condition overall.

The jacket has an 8th Air Force patch on the left shoulder and an AAF Patch on the right shoulder, with three bullion overseas stripes on the left cuff. There are Captain’s bars on the shoulder straps, and Army Air Corps collar insignia. There are a lovely set of STERLING marked pilot’s wings on the left breast, with a five-place ribbon bar featuring the Silver Star Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with OLC, Purple Heart Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two campaign stars. The order of ribbons is incorrect, but this was a common mistake on WWII uniforms.

The tag in the uniform reads:

JACKET, FIELD.

U.S.A. E.T.O.
Spec. No. UI1387C

Breast 38 Inches
Waist 38 Inches

A fantastic uniform, ready for further research and display.
