Item Description
Original Grouping. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous grouping to a female worker of the American Red Cross. One of the jackets has an Amphibious Engineers patch on the right shoulder, so this worker was almost certainly attached to that unit while overseas. The duffle bag is named to Kathryn I. Stabler, who we believe this group to have belonged to. Definitely worthy of further research!
The group includes:
- American Red Cross Female Worker Jacket with Amphibious Engineers patch on right shoulder and ARC Military Welfare Service patch on left shoulder. By Smith-Gray of New York. Scattered mothing.
- American Red Cross Female Worker Jacket with green boards sewn to shoulder boards. Patches for ARC Service, Emergency First Aid ARC, and VOLUNTEER. ARC insignia on collar. Made by Smith-Gray of New York. Some scattered mothing.
- American Red Cross nurses overseas cap in Dark blue with enamel Red Cross pin. Intact sweatband, no name. Some scattered mothing.
American Red Cross worker’s skirt with ARC button. Amazing shape, same dark blue as jackets. Scattered mothing.
- Female Army shirt, tan, with initials sewn below collar. Command maker, size 32.
- American Red Cross nurse gown with Red Cross patch on front pocket. Some heavy staining but a great example, all buttons retained but there is some ripping.
- Two Red Cross nurses caps, one Civil Defense. Great period examples with original Red Cross insignia.
- Women’s duffel bag named KATHRYN I. STABLER 306855 A. Definitely worthy of further research!
Vintage wartime American Red Cross collectibles are very difficult to locate on the market today, ones of this breadth are nearly impossible to find. Will make a compelling home front wartime display and also provide a wonderful research project for glimpsing into the American psyche for the volunteers in the War Effort at home during World War Two. Comes ready for further research and display!
