Item Description
Original Item: Brown leather flight helmet designed for use by U.S. Navy pilots in World War Two. These helmets have seen light to no use and are offered in excellent condition.
Features three attached leather straps on the back used for holding flight goggles in place. Original chinstraps complete with original leather cups and adjustment buckles.
Interiors are lined with chamois which is a soft leather that is made from the skin of goats, sheep, or chamois. Original labels are present and vary in maker and nomenclature but most read in part NAF 1092 / B-G INC as well as a contract number.
These helmets are marked on the back with the letters USN in different ways some embossed and some stamped. These helmets were also used by the short-lived para-marines.
