Original Group. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous group named to Yeoman 1st Class Robert Walter Wille, who served for 3 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The grouping includes a “War Map”, on the back of which Willie wrote a chronological list of what he did during the war, battles that took place, etc. There’s also a WWI French map brought home by his father, Robert G. Wille, who served with the 102nd Trench Mortar Battery, 27th Division from 1917-1919.

The grouping includes:

-A Painting done by Wille depicting U.S. ships on the water from the perspective of his ship, the USS John M. Bermingham. Frame measures 9½ x 11½”.
-Willie’s Navy Discharge certificate stapled to his service history. Joined 11-25-1942 and left 11-27-1945.
-Willie’s Navy Good Conduct Medal, engraved on the back with his name and year of discharge, 1945. In great shape with brooch still retained.
-WWII War Map with chronological list of the war and Willie’s service. He accompanied a convoy to the UK in June 1944, and his other exploits during the war. A really phenomenal piece worthy of framing.
-Photo of Willie or an officer with binoculars.
-April 1944 roster of the USS John M Bermingham, with Willie’s name listed.
-Small certificate naming Willie a “Plank Owner” of the USS John M Bermingham.
-Torn map of France named to Robert G. Willie, 102nd Trench Mortar Battery, American Expeditionary Forces, dated January 4th, 1919. Wille was a wagoner with the battery and was Robert W. Wille’s father. Great addition.
-“Pearl Harbor Story” Booklet printed in 1975.
-1942 issue of Swan-Finch news.
-Some written information on the USS John M Bermingham written by Wille,
-“Ordeal of Convoy NY 119” A book on convoys crossing the Atlantic during World War II, may mention Wille’s boat and convoys as were mentioned in his map diary.

This is a really phenomenal ephemera group that includes a gorgeous painting that will add some flair to your WWII Navy collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
