Original U.S. WWII Women’s Army Corps W.A.C. Guard Commercial Helmet with Liner & Chinstrap by B.F. McDonald Co.

Regular price $395.00

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very unique helmet, the first of its kind we have ever seen. This helmet was commercially manufactured by the B.F. McDonald Company in Los Angeles, California. This company made helmets during World War II for Merchant marines, Civil Defense, civilian workers, and the US military during training. This particular example was used for guard duty in the Women’s Army Corps.

The helmet is made to resemble an M1917 Doughboy Helmet and Kelly Helmet. The front is stenciled in yellow:

GUARD
W.A.C.

The chinstrap is affixed to the front brim of the helmet, and is still very strong and pliable. The liner shows use and is still fully intact, and the suspension system is still in great shape, held in place by 6 welded bales. A fantastic helmet used for guarding women of the WAC. This helmet was definitely used in 1943 or after, as that is when the WAAC (Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps) was converted to the WAC. Comes ready for further research and display.
