Original WWI Imperial German Army Officer's Sword with Etched Blade and Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a classic German WWI Artillery Officer's sword. The nickeled brass alloy hilt consists of a blucher type design. The blade, although tired, still exhibits a full etched blade.

The scabbard Is made of nickel-plated steel. Since Officers in the Imperial German Army still carried their swords into the field during WWI, it is not completely uncommon to see these swords with a great deal of use. The rain chappe is engraved by the soldier with his initials, F.S.. The grip is a very nice sharkskin over a wood base. It is wrapped with three strands of twisted silver wire. The sharkskin is in fair shape with some material missing.

The 33 inch blade of this sword is in decent condition, and shows signs of use from accumulated years in storage, mostly along the edge and tip. These were originally intended ceremonial swords, and not really intended for cutting. The blade has a brushed steel finish, with floral designs, military motifs, etc throughout running half way up the blade.

The scabbard retains the end-clip of its original hanger still attached to the ring. Difficult to find with this piece still retained!

Overall a very good condition high quality Imperial German Officer’s Sword. Ready to hang on the wall!
