Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. A very nice example of a German WWI field telephone with its original black leather covered carrying case. The telephone has a large steel hanging loop at the top, with a fold-down mouthpiece and a black painted canvas covering to the center grip. Original cord and black bakelite plugs intact. Black leather covered metal belt case, which is maker marked and dated 1917 and WILHELM KNOLL STUTTGART on its reverse. The lid of the case cover is unattached but sits fine when mounted, and the color appears to be browner. The case for this phone is rarer than the phone itself!
The phone is in great shape with field-wear. Comes complete with wire and two plugs, all you need is the correct switchboard or field box. Despite its fine condition we have no idea if this is still operational, and is therefore offered in "as is" condition. The carrying case retains its original shoulder strap which is almost never present.
This is a truly interesting and very scarce piece of original German World War One trench warfare equipment, ready for further research and display.
