Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice example of a Royal Hungarian Nav Dress Dagger, complete with the original dagger knot cord wrapped around the hilt, and the leather and brass scabbard. These were carried during ceremonial occasions and were not intended for combat.
The dagger has a lovely “Sailor’s Knot” style helmet pommel and a ribbed ivory like grip. The dagger knot is wrapped beautifully around the hilt and has a red interior. The cord is fraying in spots as shown. The hilt has a scabbard release button on the opposite side from the guard. The 11 ¼” blade has vinery engraved on one side, and on the opposite is the Hungarian crown with a Roman numeral II below it. We believe this to be either an early Pre War era blade or an extremely early war example. The grip is a small bit loose but still displays beautifully. The scabbard is in great shape with a few dents, but retains its belt hanger rings, and the stitching on the leather is fantastic. There are no maker marks on the blade.
Condition is very good, with the expected wear of age. A seldom seen dagger, ready to add to your collection!
