Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is something we have not had before! This is a rare sheet of four uncut German WWII Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht (German people's storm defense force) armbands. This was basically a last ditch civic militia utilized in the end days of WWII, when German defeat was inevitable. These armband were printed on large continuous sheets, and then would be cut to size and stitched together. This section was somewhat crudely cut at the ends, but was never cut between the individual armbands, and the lines where the cuts were to be made can still be seen
The armbands are white printed cotton with DEUTSCHER VOLKSSTURM / WEHRMACHT onto the exterior. This is surrounded by two Reichsadler (German State Eagle) emblems. The entire sheet measures 18"W by 12 1/2"H, and shows a bit of creasing, as well as some fraying at the ends.
A very interesting piece from the last days of WWII Germany, ready to display!
The Volkssturm ("people's storm") was a national militia established by NSDAP Germany during the last months of World War II. It was not set up by the German Army, the ground component of the combined German Wehrmacht armed forces, but by the NSDAP Party on the orders of Adolf AH, and its existence was only officially announced on 16 October 1944. It was staffed by conscripting males between the ages of 16 and 60 years who were not already serving in some military unit. The Volkssturm comprised one of the final components of the total war promulgated by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, part of a NSDAP endeavor to overcome their enemies' military strength through force of will.
