Item Description
Original Items. Only One Pair Available. This is a great honest pair of Pendulum Hausse sight cases used during the American Civil War. Pendulum Hausse sights were used by Artillerymen to measure the angles of their cannons. Both cases are in rough but honest condition and are missing their carrying straps, but not many leather items from this period survive at all.
The first case is much thinner and measures 11” long and 3” wide, and is marked U.S. on the front. The straps are partially retained as shown and the stitching looks good.
The second is thicker but shorter, roughly 7 x 3”, and is similarly missing the carrying strap. The bottom of this one is broken open however.
A great pair of scarce cases, ready for further research and display.
