Item Description
Original Item: One of a Kind. A real cut above the ordinary, this really is a fabulous example. There are many ways to decorate a firearm, and this example pretty much has them all. A flintlock Blunderbuss measuring 28" overall with a silver inlaid 16 1/2 " barrel, so heavily inlaid you might call it encrusted. The wood butt stock is heavily inlaid with wonderful silver wire inlays that suggest European origin. Perhaps this entire weapon was made in FRANCE for the OTTOMAN EMPIRE about 1800/1810.
Complete with solid silver large embossed barrel band, its mounts, trigger guard, throat pipes, side plate and trigger guard all of iron but also, as the barrel heavily inlaid with silver which also covers most of the lock plate. There is also lovely checkering in the wood around the wrist and under the fore stock, and a nice flower engraved into the left butt stock behind the chin rest. Pretty much the only part of this blunderbuss not decorated is the ramrod.
A very high quality weapon in just wonderful condition, fully cleaned and ready to display.
