Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely framed print of Robert Taylor’s painting Remember Pearl Harbor! The Attack on the USS Nevada, matted and put into a museum grade frame measuring 25½ x 35½”. This is number 276/500 of a run of these prints made for collectors, and will make a fantastic display piece on any wall. The painting is set on December 7th, 1941, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, and depicts a Japanese plane dropping bombs to destroy the USS Nevada.

This is described in the paragraph below the framed print, which reads:

REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
THE ATTACK ON THE USS NEVADA
BY
ROBERT TAYLOR

Aichi D-3A1 dive-bombers from the Japanese carrier Kaga concentrate their attack on the battleship Nevada, already holed by torpedoes and beached at Hospital Point. The destroyer Shaw is on fire, and behind her the battleship Pennsylvania, the cruiser Helena, and the Base Force Flagship Argonne, can be seen in the turmoil of Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

Additionally, the print is signed by artist Robert Taylor on the far left, along with three U.S. Sailors and one Marine:

- Paul Adams USMC - Paul was in the Marine detachment on the USS Nevada at Pearl Harbor, later serving with the 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific.
- Woodrow Wilson Derby USN - Joining the Navy in 1938, Woody was posted direct to USS Nevada, and was aboard at Pearl Harbor. He remained on the Nevada and was aboard at the D-Day Bombardment.
- Melvin Ellis USN - Ellis joined the USS Nevada on March 11th, 1939, and served aboard her throughout the war from Pearl Harbor to D-Day. He retired in 1955.
- Basil Pratt USN - Served on the USS Nevada from 1938 through Pearl Harbor to 1942. After submarine training, he served on the USS 259 Jack, completing 9 combat tours.

The fact that three such men signed this edition is just one of the reasons why the piece met with such great critical acclaim. It is also why copies are in so much great demand today. Pearl Harbor is one of the most important events in US History.

The print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that lists more information about the soldiers, as well as a 1991-dated commemorative envelope and stamp for the 50th anniversary of the attack.

A great display item ready for further research and display!
