Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. These HUGE revolvers were very much favored in the Balkan State of MONTENEGRO in the late 19th century. They were almost considered as men's jewelry. Our example interestingly do not have a trigger guard, either it was made that way or has had it removed so it conforms to the "Turkish" style. The bore is large at least 11mm and the revolver shows some engraving as decoration. It also has a series of marks on the left barrel trunion:
KAISER
PATENT
WIEN
NEW MODEL
GUSS STAHL
(LOGO)
SHUTZ MARKE
This would indicate it was manufactured in the Austrian City of Vienna (Wien) under patent, and was made of cast steel, and was a trademarked design. It also bears serial number 20630 on the cylinder and the frame.
The grips are wood and not Bone as often encountered. Although the hammer is spring loaded, it will not stay on full cock and the action will not operate probably for lack of some small internal part.
Presents well but not operational, close to 150 years old, very decorative and a great display item!
