Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Overall splendid condition to this World War One officer’s cap. Body shows no mothing and very little in the way of wear or staining to the cloth body, though there are a few small tears and repairs. The brass flap buttons and surrounding area have some greenish patina bled into them. Bullion-corded rosette is complete and retains some of the original gilt.
Leather visor and liner has some cracking and wear to it of varying degrees, mostly from finish degradation. The sweatband is early faux leather made from coated fabric, and the visor is lined on the bottom with the same piece. Original, silken-blue liner is complete with some sweat staining and contains the original maker in bold detail;

This marking basically states that maker A. Zach was a "Best/First Transylvanian Safety Uniforms", and were a Roman(ian) Court Supplier, located in the City of Hermannstadt. During the WWI Period this city was the part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and was the seat of the Transylvanian Diet. After WWI it became part of Romania, and today is known by its name in Romanian, Sibiu.
The cap has no real creasing to it and retains its original shape quite well. Ready to display!
