Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is an extremely RARE example of the German State of BAVARIA'S conversion to Breech Loading Bolt Action of their M-1858 Rifle Musket still issued in Percussion.
In use for just TWO years before being superseded by the M-1869 WERDER 11 mm cartridge rifle with a falling block action. These PODWILS rifles did see service during the Franco-Prussian War but were quickly phased out immediately following.
Consequently these are exceptionally rare to find, this being our first example in over fifteen years. Our example marked KREUGER of Liége who executed the conversion for the Bavarians, fitting a breach loading bolt system allowing the loading of a paper cartridge from the rear and retaining the percussion hammer and nipple to fire the rifle in the normal way. Fascinating and very short lived.
Fully cleaned and ready to display!
